Fall is one of the best times to get outside and enjoy all that Alabama has to offer. From crisp mornings on the farm to pumpkin patches, farmers markets, festivals and hayrides, communities across the state are celebrating the season with plenty of local fun. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly weekend activity or a new way to experience Alabama agriculture, there’s something for everyone.

This fall, make your plans a little more local. North Alabama

Bennett Farms- Heflin

Cornutt Farms- Boaz

Location: 24 Miller Lane, Boaz, AL 35957

Fall is in full swing at Cornutt Farms! Wander through the pumpkin patch, find a favorite straight from the vine and enjoy a day filled with seasonal fun for the whole family.Opening day is September 26, and the farm will be open every Saturday in October from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Old Baker Farm- Harpersville

Location: 1041 Farmingdale Road, Harpersville, AL35078

Make fall memories at Old Baker Farm, where the season comes alive with pumpkins, farm activities and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Gather the family and spend a day exploring the farm and celebrating all the fun that comes with fall. Old Baker Farm is open September 26 through October 31 Monday through Friday from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Saturdays 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Hidden Rivers Farm- Hartselle

Location: 298 Goose Pond Road, Hartselle, AL 35640

Make plans for a day of fall fun at Hidden Rivers Farm! From picking the perfect pumpkin and building a scarecrow to testing your aim with an apple cannon, there are plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained. Hidden Rivers Farm is open September 25 through October 31 on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Fridays from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Hubert Family Farms- New Market

Location: 432 Narrow Lane, New Market, AL 35761

Rows and rows of sunflowers, zinnias, marigolds and more! Head out to Hubert Family Farms for endless photo opportunities and to pick a fall bouquet. Flower season will be open to the public starting September 11; Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Howard Family Holiday Farm- Moody

Location: 3706 Moody Parkway, Moody, AL 35004

Make a day of it at Howard Family Holiday Farm, where fall favorites wait around every corner. Enjoy a hayride through the farm, pick out a pumpkin, cool off with ice cream and test your aim with the pumpkin-chunkin’ slingshot, plus plenty more fall fun! Opening day is September 26 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The pumpkin patch is open the rest of the season Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

McGee Farm- Florence

Location: 8211 County Road 7, Florence, AL 35633

McGee Farm has something for everyone to enjoy—from vibrant mums to festive pumpkins. Mum season begins Friday September 4, and the pumpkin patch will open September 27 through the month of October, weekdays from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Sundays 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Reeves Farm- Hartselle

Location: 346 Highway 36, Hartselle, AL 35640

Take in the orchard ride, stroll the pumpkin patch, gather flowers, and enjoy plenty of other fall fun. Reeves Farm is open every weekend in October beginning October 3 on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00-6:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase in the farm market upon arrival. All tickets include one pumpkin from the U-Pick patch, and two zinnia stems!

Rocky Hollow Patch at Angel Farm- Centre

Location: 336 Rocky Hollow Road, Cave Spring, GA 30124

When visiting this beautiful pumpkin patch, attendees park in Georgia and walk across Lumpkin Mill Creek to the farm location in Alabama. Opening date is September 19 from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., but dates and times vary!

Scott’s Orchard- Hazel Green

Location: 2163 Scott Road, Hazel Green, AL 35750

Fall is the perfect time to spend a day at Scott’s Orchard. Wander through the orchard, pick your own apples and enjoy a day outdoors surrounded by the sights and sounds of the season. Scott’s Orchard is open September 3 through October 18 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Spruell Farms- Mount Hope

Make the most of the season with this agritourism destination filled with classic fall fun. From exploring the pumpkin patch to enjoying a relaxing hayride, there’s plenty of reason to gather the family and spend a day outdoors. Spruell Farms is open September 25 through October 31 on Wednesdays from 3:00-8:00 p.m., Thursdays from 12:00 noon-8:00 p.m., Fridays from 12:00 noon-10:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Group admission can also be scheduled on Friday mornings.

Central Alabama

Barnes Family Farm- Millbrook

Location: 2362 Alabama River Parkway, Millbrook, AL 36054

Make plans for the 2nd annual fall fun at Barnes Family Farm! Bring the whole family for a day of animal encounters, hayrides, corn pit fun and plenty of other activities to enjoy together. Blue Ribbon Dairy- Tallassee

Location: 5290 Chana Creek Road, Tallassee, AL 36078

Blue Ribbon Dairy is kicking off fall fun on September 26 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.! Shop local vendors, pick out pumpkins and flowers, enjoy free face painting from 10:00 a.m.-1:00p.m., grab a bite from the food truck, and let the kids enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo and plenty of fall fun. Can’t make opening day? The pumpkin patch will be open the entire month of October on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Choctafaula, LLC- Auburn

Make a day of fall fun at Choctafaula Pumpkin Patch! Pick out the perfect pumpkin, get up close with exotic animals, and check out the new experience featuring a walk-through zoo and live animal show. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy! The pumpkin patch at Choctafaula is open September 26 through November 1 Friday from 1:00-6:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Farmer in the Dell Pumpkin Patch- Auburn

Location: 6500 Wire Road, Auburn, AL 36830

At Farmer in the Dell Pumpkin Patch, you can gather your own pumpkins, take a relaxing hayride and test your skills in the crop maze. The farm is open September 25 through October 31 Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00-6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Operating hours are subject to change as the season goes on.

Griffin Farms Pumpkin Patch- West Blocton

Location: 826 Griffin Road, West Blocton, AL 35184

Head to Griffin Farms Pumpkin Patch for a full day of fall favorites! Take a hayride, navigate the corn maze, search for the perfect giant pumpkin, enjoy tasty treats and let the kids burn off some energy with plenty of games and activities. Griffin Farms is open to the public every weekend in October only. Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00-6:00 p.m.

Penton Farms- Verbena

Location: 3595 County Road 57, Verbena, AL 36091

Enjoy wagon rides, farm animals, corn mazes, a corn pit, slides, human hamster wheels, duck races, food, plenty of pumpkins and more. With more pumpkins planted than ever before and a special surprise in store, this season is sure to be one to remember! Penton Farms opening day is September 26 and will be open on weekdays from 1:00-6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Poague Tree Farm & Nursery- Verbena

Location: 3595 County Road 57, Verbena, AL 36091

Experience fall after dark at Poague Tree Farm on Oct. 23 and 24! From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., enjoy a nighttime hayride through the farm to the pumpkin patch, roast s’mores around the fire pits, play games, make your way through the haybale maze and pick out the perfect pumpkin to take home. Bring the whole family or make it a fun fall date night. Reservations are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Cash only the night of the event.

Aplin Farms- Dothan

Make the most of the season with at Pleasant Pastures, open September 23 through October 31 Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Spend the day exploring the farm with u-pick pumpkins, sunflowers, farm animals, painted hay bales and plenty of activities for the whole family. Kids can bounce on the giant pillow, race down the slide, ride the train, swing, zip along the ziplines and enjoy new fall treats along the way.
