Sweet Grown Alabama Day brought communities together across the state on July 25 as consumers celebrated Alabama agriculture by shopping local, attending special events and supporting farmers, fishermen and producers.

Sweet Grown Alabama members marked the annual celebration with customer appreciation events, giveaways, product specials, family activities and promotions designed to connect consumers with locally grown and caught products. From farms and markets to retail locations and farm markets, members found creative ways to encourage shoppers to look for the Sweet Grown Alabama logo and support Alabama agriculture.

Farmers markets across the state also joined the celebration by hosting special Sweet Grown Alabama Day events, giving shoppers even more opportunities to purchase fresh, locally grown products directly from producers.

Adding to the celebration, Gov. Kay Ivey officially recognized the importance of Alabama agriculture by signing a proclamation declaring July 25 as Sweet Grown Alabama Day. The proclamation highlighted the significant contributions Alabama farmers and fishermen make to the state's economy and encouraged residents to support local producers by purchasing local products.

"Sweet Grown Alabama Day is a reminder that every local purchase makes a difference," said Aisling Walding, assistant director of Sweet Grown Alabama. "When consumers choose to buy Alabama grown and caught products, they are investing in local families, strengthening rural communities and helping ensure agriculture remains a vital part of our state's future."

Throughout the day, social media boomed as Alabamians shared photos of local farms, showcasing everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to beef, flowers and more. Many Sweet Grown Alabama members also welcomed visitors to their farms and businesses, giving customers an opportunity to learn more about where their food comes from and the families who produce it.
