Sweet Grown Alabama Day Celebrates Alabama Agriculture and All Things Locally Grown
July 28, 2025
Montgomery, Ala. – Alabamians across the state came together Saturday, July 26, to celebrate the bounty and beauty of locally grown products on Sweet Grown Alabama Day. From farmers markets and roadside stands to grocery stores and community events, the day was filled with pride, flavor and support for Alabama’s hardworking farmers and fishermen.
Sweet Grown Alabama Day served as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting local growers and producers. Communities large and small hosted events highlighting Alabama-grown fruits, vegetables, meats, honey, pecans, dairy, seafood and more.
“Sweet Grown Alabama Day is a celebration of the heart and soul of our state- our farmers,” said Aisling Walding, Assistant Director of Sweet Grown Alabama. “We were thrilled to see families, businesses and entire communities rally around local agriculture this weekend. Every tomato purchased, every flower picked and every farm visited makes a difference in keeping Alabama agriculture strong.”

Markets across the state saw considerable turnout, with increased interest in local products and shoppers expressing appreciation for connecting to farmers and fishermen directly. As consumers shopped for local products, they were encouraged to snap photos of their purchases and experiences, share them on social media and tag @SweetGrownAlabama for a chance to win a prize pack full of Sweet Grown Alabama goodies. The fun promotion helped spread awareness online while bringing about community engagement.

Consumers who weren’t near one of the special events were encouraged to celebrate by visiting a local market, store or farm, dine at a restaurant that features Alabama-grown ingredients or cook a meal at home using locally sourced products to support farmers near them.
Farmers across the state felt the love and support firsthand.
“This is one of our busiest and most rewarding days of the year,” said Hunter Tolleson of Grown By Grace Farms. “Seeing so many folks come out just to support Alabama farmers reminds us why we do what we do. It truly means the world.”
