Walker Ranch is a 3500-acre 6th generation Alabama Heritage working farm and ranch in northwest Alabama located at the bend of the Tennessee River, five miles from downtown Florence, AL. My family has farmed this land since 1824. My son Reed is the 7th generation and is joining us this fall after graduating from Mississippi State University. I am a full-time producer raising cotton, corn, wheat, soybeans and have a 300+ head cow/calf operation. I also operate an agritourism venture year-round with an IPRA sanctioned rodeo (10K in attendance this past March), and a 4th of July fireworks fundraiser for our local Oakland Volunteer Fired Dept. This year we helped sponsor a Mid-South Pullers sanctioned Truck and Tractor pull for our Central Volunteer Fire Dept. in July and October is our 4-week Fall Festival. We anticipate upwards of 8K visitors between school field trips and the public. (Our 501(c)(3) is Walker Ranch Heritage Project and our mission is agricultural education.) On October 3 we will be open and offering location grown u-pick pumpkins, hayride, corn crib, playground and inflatables, horse rides, farm animal petting zoo, and fields of sunflowers, cotton and zinnias for pictures and picking. There is a corn maze in the Walker Ranch brand design. We have food trucks and a concession stand for snacks. We are the Florence First Friday's October 2 sponsor for a farm-city event. We're providing the several hundred pound pumpkin for the pumpkin drop, animals for a farm animal petting zoo, several old tractors to view and showcasing the new equipment farmers use to produce their fields of crops.
We will be open Oct 3 from 12-7 and then the following weeks:
Friday: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Saturday: 12 – 7:00 PM
Sunday: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
