My journey began many years ago with my beloved Daddy, who passed away in 2023. He was a beekeeper and organic gardener in Pennsylvania, and I loved sitting on the hillside and watching him tend to his bee hives and playing in the dirt alongside him. When I retired after teaching for 31 years, I told my husband, Harry, that I would like to learn how to become a beekeeper, get a few hives, start organic gardening, have a greenhouse for herbs, create organic herbal products, and raise butterflies! Harry cleared a hillside and made me a beautiful apiary! We played on our last name, Gustafson, and named it A Gust of Sun Apiary. Now, Harry is building my garden and herbal greenhouse area. My retirement dreams are becoming a reality, and I’m blessed to also be able to use the knowledge I learned from my father and honor his memory.
