My Homestead-ish Kind of Life

Arab, Alabama

We’re a family of four passionate about growing our own food and creating handcrafted goods to live a more self-sustainable life. I’ve always had a love for backyard birds, but after a breast cancer diagnosis this year, I dove headfirst into growing gourds as a way to keep my mind in a positive place. What started as therapy has grown into something truly special.

I now put my artistic talents to work crafting upscale homes for backyard birds—birdhouse gourds, Thunder gourds, feeders, and art sculptures—using natural gourds grown right here on our local properties. Our designs range from whimsical “fat cats” and “chicken butts” (yes, with the birdhouse hole in the back!) to floral, fruit, crackle art, and other one-of-a-kind creations.

We also grow luffas and Job’s Tears beads, adding even more natural, homegrown beauty to our work. We think outside the box when it comes to gourd art—breaking norms, having fun, and making sure each piece is as unique as the people who take them home.  We offer custom order gourds and so much more!  We spend most of our Saturdays at Lowe Mill Arts participating at their outdoor market.  We also participate in local holiday event markets!  You can visit our page to see what we are all about!

We have a sorta kinda homestead-ish thing going on, on less than an acre of land hence the name!  We’re on the top of the mountain between Guntersville & Scant City Alabama!
