Farmer Profile

MapleWood Farm L.L.C

Athens, Alabama

We raise heirloom tomatoes, host a Tomato Festival in July(our 3rd year July 13, 2024) with live music, artisan booths, and a car show. Tammie teaches floral classes complete with farm to table dinners(tablescapes are comprised of antique or vintage dishes Tammie collects through estate sales, inherited, etc) and we use our farm to host workshops such as canning, crochet, beekeeping, cookie decorating, garden tours, etc. Tammie is always looking for opportunities to teach & share her knowledge of home keeping/homesteading skills or provide their farm as a place for others to come and share their knowledge. We also use our social media pages to connect people with other farms, friends businesses, or unique places through field trips or write about our visits to our Amish friends that offer a glimpse into another culture of farming/homesteading. We currently have 24 raised beds and over 100 tomato plants we tend along with 10 chickens and 8 goats. Our latest project includes constructing a hobbit house that also serves as a storm shelter and root cellar. We love growing, learning and sharing & we love people. Our 8 acres provides us a platform to combine all these together to create MapleWood Farm. A farm named after Tammie’s mother, Maple and the first part of our name, Wood. Happy Growing!
