Oven Roasted Brisket

Ingredients: 

  • 1 5-5 1/2 lb trimmed Sweet Grown Alabama brisket

Rub Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp to 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp to 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika

Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 can of beef consume
  • 4 drops of liquid smoke

Directions: 

  1. Place brisket into a shallow baking dish.
  2. Mix rub ingredients together and rub into all sides of beef.
  3. Place beef uncovered in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours or up to 24 hours.
  4. When ready to cook, preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  5. Cover brisket tightly with tinfoil.
  6. Cook brisket for 3 hours. Remove from oven.
  7. Stir together barbecue sauce, beef consume and liquid smoke and pour over brisket.
  8. Re-cover with tinfoil and cook for another 2 hours.
  9. Remove tinfoil from brisket and cook an additional 30 minutes uncovered.
  10. Allow brisket to rest at least 20 minutes before slicing. Serve with drippings.
