Faith, Family and Farming are the words that come to mind when I think of JYJ Red Angus located in Haleburg, a small community in southeast Alabama.
JYJ Red Angus began in 2006 as a register Red Angus herd, owned and operated by Jim and Jessica Yance, third-generation farmers. Jim and Jessica work side by side as a husband/wife team. Our herd was derived by the elite genetics of the RA Brown Ranch in Throckmorton, Texas where Jim and Jessica are cooperating members of their team. JYJ Red Angus has been raising, developing, and delivering Red Angus Bulls to the RABrown Ranch for over 15 years. We utilize artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and IVF procedures to build and produce a genetically advanced herd of Red Angus cattle. We have both spring and fall herds in order to increase our calf crop as well as our marketing opportunities year round. In addition to raising bulls, we enjoy setting up heifer projects and while we are working to build a heifer development segment of the operation. We just completed our first heifer development project in 2021.
In addition to raising registered animals, we also have built and managed an impressive commercial herd of Red Angus cattle that derived from the Yance Farms operation. This herd originally began by Clarence Yance and continued by Terry Yance the grandfather and father of Jim Yance, respectfully.
JYJ Red Angus is also a forage and hay operation, where we grow and produce high quality feed for our cattle. Our cattle can also be found in the feedlot as we have served many customers with custom freezer beef.
Growing up on family farms both Jim and Jessica delight themselves in raising their two sons on the farm in Haleburg. The boys are learning and being taught the importance of faith, the deep-rooted meaning of family all while enjoying a life style and appreciation of farming.
JYJ Red Angus is the proud breeder of Brown JYJ Redemption, Red Angus bull with highest number of registrations for four consecutive years. JYJ Red Angus has also been a repeat Grid Master Award recipient.
Jim serves as the southeast delegate for the Board of Directors for the national Red Angus Association as well as many other positions for various state and local organizations. Jim is employed by Premier Select Sires, specializing in animal reproduction and artificial insemination.
Jessica is a full-time ranch wife and boy mom where she manages the farm office.
